Faith and Nurture

The Faith and Nurture Committee creates spaces of spiritual connection, relationship building, and faith depth. Its goals are to connect local churches with the Conference and national church. The Committee also helps provide resources for the education and nurture of local churches, as well as coordinating Conference participation in regional and ecumenical education and youth events. Additionally, Faith and Nurture promotes the growth of faith in local churches and encourages the use of UCC resources and leadership.

In the last five years, the Faith and Nurture Committee has helped to fund and collaborate many religious and spiritual growth opportunities. After covid, regional picnics were designed to get people together. These picnics were hosted in Fargo, Bismarck, and Camp of the Cross. Each location hosted two or three times each. Maryvale Retreat Center in Valley City has hosted two fall retreats, each with a running theme. One theme was ‘Reconnecting’ and another was ‘Where do we go from here’.

In 2023, F&N supported a trip to Washington, DC with the Minnesota Conference with four youth attending from the NPC. In 2024, F&N supported and paid for a RYE (regional youth event) in Illinois. Sixteen youth and four chaperones traveled by bus and attended this event.

In the fall of 2024 a ‘Call to Care’ occurred in Bismarck. This event was to learn how to show compassion and excellence, led by two hospital chaplains. There was a spring retreat in May of 2025 at the Bismarck UCC.
